To be honest, the Fuel Micro Charger 2 is not the world’s smallest power bank. We know this because the original Fuel Micro Charger is a wee bit smaller at 1.5 x 1.0 x 0.5 inches while the new version measures 1.5 x 1.2 x 0.6 inches. Both weigh just 0.6 ounces and both are small enough to attach to your keychain without weighing it down.

However, despite being only slightly larger, the new Fuel Micro Charger 2 managed to almost double the battery capacity of the original diminutive power bank. Don’t get too excited though as the original charger only held a 220 mAh charge so with double the battery capacity, we are looking at only 420 mAh.

The power bank should be looked upon as an emergency tool and not your usual power bank for greatly extending the battery life of your smartphone. That extra 420 mAh should give you an extra hour of talktime or so but it would barely last if you plan to use it to catch a few extra Pokemons.

Besides the upgrade in battery capacity, there are a couple of other significant changes to the design. First of all, the charger connector is now at the end of a short USB cable instead of being attached to the body of the charger itself. This is a much better design and the charger doesn’t get in the way like the original.

Secondly, the Fuel Micro Charger 2 is now available in 2 versions, with a microUSB connector for Android/Windows phones or a Lightning connector for iPhones. Of course the charger will also work with other low-powered compatible devices such as your Kindle or an iPod nano. While it will theoretically work with higher powered devices, the extra battery boost it provides will be most likely insignificant.

The Fuel Micro Charger 2 is available in a variety of colors and design including white, black and our personal favorite, red. Hook it to your keychain and always have an emergency charger with you.
