First of all, the Beam Smart Projector looks nothing like a projector. It looks like a tiny lamp shade and it in fact fits into any standard sized light socket. It may seem like a strange idea to merge an LED projector with a light bulb but there are merits to doing so.
There are instances where projection on a flat horizontal surface is preferable to a vertical one. When you are following a recipe’s cooking instruction for example. It makes sense to have the recipe or video projected on the kitchen counter top rather than a wall in front of you. You don’t have to look up and down while following the recipe. Another great use for the Beam Smart Projector is to have the projection beamed on the table top during a meeting. There are definitely advantages to having the ability for everyone in the meeting able to point out or interact with a projection in the center of everyone instead of just one on a wall.
The Beam can function as a standard projector with its included power cable. Just plug it in and use Beam to project to any flat vertical surface. The projector is powered by a built-in Android computer. It works similarly to an Android cellphone. It can access the internet via WiFi and stream online content like Netflix or YouTube. It also supports casting content from your smartphone or tablet.
Last but not least, you don’t have to worry about sacrificing one of your light socket to use Beam. It functions as a dimmable LED bulb as well.
