It has been awhile since we have seen any true innovation with wireless Bluetooth speakers. Sure they have gotten smaller, sound better and have batteries that last longer. Other than that, one wireless speaker is pretty much the same as another. Therefore, we were delightfully surprised with the Air Audio, the world’s first pull-apart speaker.
The Air Audio is not a single speaker. It is not a pair of speakers. No, it is made up of 5 speakers (1 AirBase that acts as a hub + 4 AirConnect speakers) that can be joined together as one magnetically. As a single speaker, you get 24 watts of booming audio, quite sufficient to shake up the room.
Of course, the magic happens when you split the 5 speakers apart. Place them around the room and you get surround sound. The immersive audio is perfect for watching a movie. Too bad there is no sub-woofer for the lows but for a portable surround system, it is pretty impressive.

The Air Audio speakers also function as multi-room speakers. Just place each AirConnect speaker within a 75-feet radius of the AirBase. This is probably one of the easiest ways to get multi-room speakers in a home. What is more, the speakers have IPX4 rating which means you can add your shower as one of the multi-rooms.
If you are not sold yet on the speakers, how about the fact that each speaker can work independently as a Bluetooth speaker? You can pair each speaker individually. You can have each speaker reconnect to the AirBase just by attaching it back magnetically. How is that for simplicity?
Last but not least, you can have more than 4 AirConnect speakers for each AirBase. How many more? How does 75 sound to you? You can also have multiple AirBase speakers. AirConnect speakers can easily be swapped between AirBase speakers just by using the magnets. With this versatility, the possibilities are endless.
