The Titanium Pocket Tool from Big Idea Design is an EDC (Every Day Carry) tool that is, as you expected, made from titanium. However, that is not the only thing that distinguishes this multi-tool from its peers in a very crowded EDC tool market. In fact, it looks quite different from most tools out there. It has a fairly minimalist design but there is nothing minimalist about the number of functions it offers.

Amazingly, the Titanium Pocket Tool has no less than 12 different functions. And that includes grouping the 15 SAE and Metric socket sizes as a single function. Quite a feat for a tool that measures just 3 inches long, 1 inch wide and a slim 0.157 inch thick. It weighs just under 1 oz, thanks to the use of titanium in its construction.

The Titanium Pocket Tool also comes with a couple of screwdrivers, a mini pry bar, scraper edge and a hex bit opening that accepts standard 1/4″ (6 mm) bits. In our opinion, the best feature of the tool is the included stainless steel insert. On one end of the insert is a finger-safe box opener edge. Flip it over and you get a stainless steel camping fork. Without a sharp edge, this makes the Titanium Pocket Tool TSA safe and you can bring it on you when you fly.

Since the tool is not cheap (titanium tools are usually costly), it is probably a good idea as you wouldn’t want it to be confiscated during a security check. On the other hand, if you really need a sharp edge, you can replace the insert with standard utility blades. And if you absent mindedly try to bring aboard the Titanium Pocket Tool with the utility blade, all you have to do is toss the cheap blade away and keep your tool. The leather sheath that comes with the tool lets you carry both the blunt insert as well as the utility blades.

Like all EDC tools, the Titanium Pocket Tool is not meant to replace proper tools. It is meant to function as an emergency tool for quick but adequate fixes. It may not do a perfect job but the whole idea is to have a tool that is with you all the time when the occasion calls for it. For that, the Titanium Pocket Tool definitely passes the EDC test and worthy of its tagline, “Do More, Carry Less”.
